"Beautiful Things" Green elf machine-felted wool/cashmere Katwise-inspired patchwork sweatercoat-2584
Felted patchwork Katwise inspired recycled sweatercoats - vastly different from others you might have seen. These are painstakingly machine-needle-felted for way better durability, warmth and better fit. The felting creates a completely different garment and also provides enough structure for machine embroidery and sparkling sequin work (most coats have this). This one is cashmere and merino wool which has been made softer by the needle-felting process. These coats take about ~30+ hours to make. Â
This one is part of my newer "pixie bottom" coat designs - even the "skirt" section is felted for supreme durability. Also hidden inside the hood brim are 4 felted layers.. so instead of 2-ply cashmere, think 8-ply... which I felted the heck out of to super-compress them, so the hood brim has a lot more structure than my earlier works, but without adding too much bulk. The result is a hood that has a better "hang" and holds a shape better when worn up over the head. Also, even the skirt pieces on this one have loads of â¨sparkling sequins. â¨
More about my newest coats over HERE so that you know what to look for and what "upgraded hood brim" means. <-Also a great read even if you're just idea-shopping. đÂ
đThis one DOES have wool! It's in the skirt sections and the shoulder pieces. đ
This coat has a name: "Beautiful Things"
Thank you Edward Maya for the toon inspiration. đľđ
Before you get too excited, please check the measurements below. Here are the very rough measurements, and I take a lot of these to try to help.Â
Shoulder to shoulder: ~ 18 INCHES |
Underarm to underarm: ~47 INCHES |
Hood length: ~ 41 INCHES |
Sleeve length: ~26.5 INCHES |
Neck to hem: ~48 INCHES |
Waist when fastened: ~43 INCHES; Can be cinched a bit tighter with belt ties |
Closure: Zipper, with belt ties |
Â
Other notes: This one has a double-felted soft merino/acrylic bodice so it is heavier and warmer. It is also absolutely loaded with sequins, all painstakingly sewn on with invisible thread. Like "I went nuts"-level sequins. They are all over the hood, sleeves and on the felted leaf shapes attached to the belt ties. They absolutely sparkle in the sunlight.Â
Psst... read up more about the fit and measurements of my coats HERE.
Model measurements for comparison:
Height: 5' 3"
Bust: ~34"
Waist: ~34"
Weight: ~149 pounds
If a coat is just over the top, I've got some lower-hanging fruit for you - check out my arm warmer, leg-warmer or hat listings as I often make these from material left over from the coats. You can put together a pair of arm-warmers, leg-warmers and a hat for a little less than a coat, but still have a SUPER cute ensemble! I don't always have a complete set, but it's worth a look. đ Â
They're not designed to be worn in a blizzard in heavy snow, but these do keep a person warm - much more so than non-felted coats. It's like wearing a warm HUG. If you're looking at other coats and just need a frame of reference for comparison before you decide, you can order a cheapie needle-felted sample HERE.
